THE GIANT CLAW (1959)

Scientist Mitch McAfee (Jeff Morrow) cannot convince anyone that a enormous bird, the size of the United Nations building in NYC, here from outer space, has arrived on Earth and is eating planes from the sky. Eventually the giant buzzard (The Claw) makes its presence more than adequately known, as it begins to attack people more openly. It can do this because of a never explained reason that this gooney puppet is surrounded by a force field, making all weapons useless against it. Mitch finds its nest and shoots holes in its colossal egg, enraging the puppet. The Claw, then flies South, and eats the United Nations building on its way and it just gets better. The monster is actually a giant buzzard with an anti-matter force field. This is my favorite white noise film; except when the Claw is screeching - I hate that bird.
