A portion of the tail of a prehistoric reptile is discovered in Denmark. It regenerates into the entire reptile, which proceeds to destroy buildings and property and generally make a nuisance of itself. “It ain’t a fit night out for man nor beast,” bellows W.C. Fields in the Yukon farce The Fatal Glass of Beer (1933), just before a snowball promptly blasts him in the face.

That snowball arrives on cue each of the dozen times Fields opens his front door and delivers the line, and the joke never gets old. Sure, it’s a twist on the old pie-in-the-face gag, but that’s just the surface. There’s no explanation as to who’s throwing the snowball, if anyone or why, and like much of the humor in The Fatal Glass of Beer, the real punch-line (if there is one) isn’t immediately apparent. If the lack of an obvious “joke” is what makes the film so utterly stupefying to watch, it is also what makes it so richly rewatchable and weirdly haunting. The pacing doesn’t anticipate laughter, and the dialogue lacks obvious comic emphasis. It would easy but inaccurate to say that this unusual tone makes the film feel “modern,” but it would just as wrong to say this strange two-reeler was “of it’s time.” The Fatal Glass of Beer is like one of the natural wonders of cinema, a totally bizarre creation that abides by its own rules and exists in its own world—and what a wonderful world to visit it is.

Never knew that this was a great series of novels, thought it was just a horrid TV show.

In this one, Honey finds herself playing strip poker with four murder suspects...and a deck that's as stacked as she is." Honey has her hands full with the corpse of a washed-up Hollywood entertainer, a battered beauty, and a poisoned pipsqueak - not to mention the guy who tries to get her to model a transparent bathing suit in his swimming pool "shaped like the body of a very large-bosomed woman." Fortunately, with her 38-22-36 measurements, taffy colored hair, big blue eyes, and baby-bottom complexion, Honey fits right in with the Hollywood types as she searches out the clues aboard a yacht christened Hell's Light. "Just bring a swimsuit and a toothbrush," says Sam Aces, the producer, but it's a good thing Honey's packed her .32, too.

Naked man gored by bull in Pamplona

An angry bull has taken its revenge on a streaker during the running of the bulls in Pamplona.

To the delight of onlookers, the bull singled out the man amongst a sea of people in traditional white shirts and red neckerchiefs and went for him.
The world famous, seven day festival is held every year and attracts runners from all over the world.
Last week an Australian man was seriously injured when a 1,200lb bull sliced through an artery in his leg. He is expected to survive.
The full extent of the streaker's injuries are not clear but he was able to walk away and was later arrested for causing a public disturbance.
He is unlikely to have been too unhappy about that, however, as he is clearly an exhibitionist and the attention probably made his day. It may even have made his whole week.

Maria ("Hansi") was the envy of all in her little Czechoslovakian village because she had won a scholarship to the Nazi school in the capital and would be able to serve the Fuhrer.
Thus Maria began a long journey in 1940 which was to lead her into the darkness of blind devotion to Hitler and the atheism of the Nazi system. The path led to a storybook romance...cruel disillusionment at Hitler's suicide...a traumatic awakening to the swastika's scourge across Europe and upon the Jews...a breathtaking escape from Communists...and a reemergence into the love and lordship of her mother's Jesus.

Arnold was a terrible governor but made the best of the Japanese commercials staring Austrian muscle men. It only gets better so watch the whole thing.

How about some crazy cool 100 year old Russian animation with dead frogs and bugs by the great:

dislav Starevicegan working with motion pictures while at the Museum of Natural History at Korvo, Russia. Starevitch was attempting to document insect life with motion pictures, and he began experimenting with animation when stag beetles he was trying to film became lethargic under the heat of the bright movie lights. Starevitch constructed realistic models of stag beetles, and recreated their actions through stop-motion animation. In doing so, Starevitch discovered the possibilities of puppet animation.

Starevitch's stop-motion insects soon became actors in humorous little social satires often based on Aesop's fables, where they were joined by ants, frogs, birds, and other animated creatures. Although this sort of animation ultimately became synonymous with children's films, Starevitch's early animated films were aimed directly at an adult audience. His "Revenge of the Movie Cameraman" (1912), for instance, is a bedroom farce dealing with the marital sqabbles between two adulterous beetles. Starevitch's film "The Mascot" contains some of the darkest, most disturbing, imagery ever created for the cinema, and is practically guaranteed to unsettle the dreams of any viewer, regardless of their age. Starevitch is perhaps the only animator of his generation who surpassed the nightmarish qualities of the darkest elements found in the early cartoon features from the Walt Disney Studios.

Starevitch directed live action films as wells as animation, and many of his best animated films incorporated live action footage through editing and projection techniques. Starevitch's daughter, Nina, was featured in some of these films.

The influence of Ladislas Starevitch can be seen in the sort of visually disturbing films of contemporary animators such as like the Brothers Quay, and films like Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas.

In 1975 George Harrison does a pirate sketch and song on the Eric Idol show. Who'd have thought that Keith Richards was the better pirate actor of the two. If your thinking "there was an Eric Idol show?" don't feel bad; no one outside of the UK knew it existed.

This was a Bob Burden recommendation so you know it's a weird one. In this episode of the Canadian show Bubbles (their Curly) needs a tooth pulled but refuses to go to the hospital. His friends remind him he went once before and he reminds them that he went because Conky was with him. Conky is basically Bubbles' split personality and when his friends decide they didn't like that personality they dumped it in a swamp. They find Conky, one of the guys gets a broken nose and super glues a rag to his nose and a toy truck to his hand. I think I have already said too much. Trailer Park Boys is one of the weirdest, funniest shows on (Canadian) TV. They made a feature film out of the show produced by Ivan Reitman.

By the 5th time you hear this unsympathetic underdog say the phrase self conscious you wish you could travel back to 1951, pants him in public in, sneak in his room at night an whisper in his sleeping ear; they are not laughing with you, they are laughing at you; you should take a bottle of Mom's "diet" pills, drink a jug of granny's special "tonic", swipe dad's car and drive over a freshly frozen lake; it is the only way you will get over your self consciousness. He is not easy to root for.

This film would be wrongfully detained there and not even the ACLU or United Nations would care. This is a very silly movie, and it has no moments. If you like B-comedies this is a "Z". It starts with Snuffy Smith and Barney Google trying to outwit a bunch of spies who are after the Army's secret weapon, and from that premise it just continues to get less plausible as it goes along. Comedy veteran Edgar Kennedy plays Snuffy's long-suffering sergeant, and gives his usual good performance. The "Hillbilly Blitzkrieg" would never have struck fear into the Axis, and you would have been on their side if they were fighting this film.

Professor Weirdo is back, same K-Mart smoking jacket, same shirt, shoes and pants (new hat) but he is performing a new kind of magic this go around; he's a lip syncing god and his song is Felin' Like a Woman!

It feels like a prologue for a larger story, and you end it really wanting to see more of both heroes & villains. It could almost be, in fact, a companion piece to Corben's adaptation of Harlan Ellison's A Boy And His Dog, or would fit nicely in Creepy or Eerie.

It would seem that, in the devious plantation owners mind, all is fair in love and war, even if it means killing the one that you love and turning her into a zombie (there must be easier ways to get a date). Beaumont seeks the help of an evil Voodoo master called Murder Legrande (Bella Lugosi) and Legrande agrees to help, but a double cross is in the air.

According to presumably reliable sources and under the utmost security conditions, on the, night of August 7,1937, Captain Z-RO, his young ward Jet and fellow scientists blasted off the Earth on the first manned flight to the Moon. The early, pre-space age ship, the ZX-98, was cumbersome, balky, and overloaded with equipment, oxygen and supplies. Enthusiasm was high .. .the chance of survival low.

According to presumably reliable sources and under the utmost security conditions, on the, night of August 7,1937, Captain Z-RO, his young ward Jet and fellow scientists blasted off the Earth on the first manned flight to the Moon. The early, pre-space age ship, the ZX-98, was cumbersome, balky, and overloaded with equipment, oxygen and supplies. Enthusiasm was high .. .the chance of survival low.

Not a 1980s teenage comedy as one might surmise from the title, but a peculiarly entertaining1950s effort — or at least for the first hour or so of its 90 minutes running time.

A race of “superior” aliens lands on Earth. Why do we know that they are superior? Because they keep on proclaiming it all the time. “We are the supreme race. We have the supreme weapons,” their captain repeatedly intones. That may be. The aliens have these nifty ray guns that instantly turn their targets into skeletons — I sometimes wish I had something like that when dealing with my fellow motorists, but it’s probably better that I don’t.

Anyway, they don’t seem all that advanced to me since they arrive in these really small UFOs that dig themselves into the Earth. “Just how many aliens did they manage to squeeze into that flying saucer?” I marveled watching them all disembark. In an interior shot it later turns out that their flying saucer is bigger on the inside than the outside — a bit like Doctor Who’s TARDIS I suppose. That’s pretty advanced I thought, but it still looked like a tight fit in there. They may be a superior race that has invented space travel, but they haven’t discovered comfy space travel . . .

Also, the spaceship isn’t anywhere big enough to cart back a full-grown Gargon. Now Gargons are these lobsters — and I swear: they are real life crayfish! — that grow to the size of a house within a few days, feeding on humans. The aliens leave them behind on other planets so that they won’t feed on their own populace and collect the full-sized ones for food later on. They’re going to need a bigger flying saucer, I thought watching some humans battle a giant floating silhouette of a superimposed lobster later on in the movie.

One of the aliens (named Derek!) rebels against this sort of behavior early on and flees his fellow aliens. An alien (named Thor!) is sent off in hot pursuit to kill him with one of those nifty ray guns, and the rest of the movie plays a bit like The Terminator but without the Terminator itself of course. Derek, having seen Michael Rennie do the same thing in The Day the Earth Stood Still, finds lodging in a near-by small town. (This being the kinder and gentler 1950s, he is allowed to rent the room without having to put down a deposit first.)

Not usually someone who harps on too much about bad acting, I must admit that the acting in Teenagers from Outer Space is particularly bad — and the source of most of the movie’s unintended hilarity. The giant lobster shadow is also very bad, but I really dug those ray guns leaving . .

Oh yeah, the dialogue has some real clunkers too, and I’d thought I’d include some of my favourites:

CAPTAIN: “When we return to our planet, the high court may well sentence you to torture and death for your treason.”

[Upon discovering the skeleton in Simpson's office]

SECRETARY: “I am not going to keep a job where this sort of thing goes on.”

THOR: “I will find you. I will find you. I will find you. I will find you. Ahhhhhhggg.”

CAPTAIN: “Morrow! Go below and bring up the young Gargon specimen. Now the decision depends on its reactions.”

DEREK: “Wait, Captain. I have found evidence of intelligent beings on this planet!”

THOR: “Of what concern of foreign beings?”

DEREK: “Of none to you, Thor! Just as you were so unconcerned when you destroyed this small creature, so bravely!”

THOR: “It was no more than an insect.”

DEREK: “But it had life. And that life you had to take to satisfy your endless hunger for killing.”

DEREK: “You make me angry. But I like you very much. FIVE STARS!

Teenagers From Outer Space (1959)

This is the ultimate Cartoon-overkill big government intrusion into the minds of children media blitz of all-time. This aired on ABC, CBS and NBC simultaneously, uninterrupted and it never aired again. Yes, these creatures realized that kids were laughing at them.
This was a big part of Nancy Reagan's JUST SAY NO (except to the pharmaceutical companies that pumped a billion dollars into her crusade.) A government propaganda a rendezvous with all the stars from your childhood.
This was meant to be an anti-drug movie to show the kids the pretended dangers of drugs (marijuana, alcohol and so on). If you wondered where the initiators got all the licenses from, it was the fact that the creep behind this was married to the creep in the oval office. The prick's even in the intro.
Remember: If the Bush family are against it then drugs are your friends. What a toilet of a family; they tried mess up every popular kids show in one fell swoop and this thing is best known as a VHS those kids grew up getting stoned to. There is nothing that clan can get right.

Diver Dan was a syndicated television series produced around 1960, 61 in Philadelphia. The cast consisted of Diver Dan and Miss Minerva, the Mermaid, who were real people, along with a number of rubber fish puppets and other rubber sea creatures, who were all string and hand puppets. To give the illusion that they were all underwater, the series was filmed through an aquarium. This series looks so much like it is not underwater you never wonder how one of the bad guy fish manages to smoke a cigarette. Other characters included were Barron Barracuda, Trigger Fish, Finley Haddock, Gabby the Clam, Glow Fish, Goldie the Goldfish, Hammer-head Shark, Hermit Crab, Doc Sturgeon, Sea Biscuit the Seahorse and Skipper Kippe.

Their hearts are in the right place but, man, outside of comics, just buy a frigging taser, dudes. The exemption being Superbarrio that dude'll beat you to death. Seriously, I met this guy guy in Mexico and he is terrifying.

Someone sent me a link to this video a few days ago and I had planed on putting it up as an extra next week, but Daniel Tosh beat me to it. It is amazing and sort of like some Michael Kupperman "Tales Designed to Thrizzle" strip jumped of the page, killed him, did a mind-meld with Bob Burden, took over his kitchen and made a bee-line to Youtube. I am sure this thing is viral old news at this point but if you have not seen Professor Weirdo and his amazing floating hat trick, take a minute (this gem is 60 seconds on the dot) and sneak a peek at the weirdest, reptile-brained kitchen magic show in America.

Tobor the 8th Man vs Dr. Spectra of Intercrime (1964)

8th Man was disguised as Tobor--Tobor is a very bad alias for a robot; what would he have done if he were a "Bob or a Anna" and had to spell one of those backwards? He (Tobor) had his own detective agency named "The Tobor Detective Agency." In times of danger he changed into the 8th man, a robot of steel, capable of incredible speed and strength. He gained his energy from cigarette-like pills kept in his belt.

Dr. Spectra wants to learn Tobor's inner secrets by any means possible! Using an incredible array of weapons to accomplish his task, he manages to wipe Tobor's memory!

The theme song says it all:

Man, there were a lot of robots named TOBOR back then. They must have outnumbered the Dr. Acula's 5 to one!

Stamp Day for Superman (1954) Colonel Bleep (1956) and Super President and Spy Shadow (1967)

Clark Kent and Lois Lane, out for a stroll, discover a jewelry robbery in progress. Lois gets a good look at one of the burglars. Later Clark and Jimmy Olsen visit Jimmy's old school to discuss Superman's visit there to promote the U.S. Treasury Department's Savings Stamp program. In the meantime, Lois is captured by Blinky, the jewelery burglar she spotted. When Lois doesn't show up to join Clark and Jimmy, Clark realizes she's in trouble and arranges for Superman to save the day and still make his appearance at the school's Stamp Day. Yes, it is a awful as it sounds. One wonders if the US at one of its most shameful moments in history under the thumb of Joseph McCarthy would Hollywood would have just told the treasury to blow if they were not terrified of being blacklisted as communists. This really reeks of McCarthyism especially the fact that it was only shown in schools.

Colonel Bleep in "Scatch and His Feathered Friends" Colonel Bleep is one of the all-time great cartoon curiosities in this episode From their earth headquarters on Zero Zero Island, Colonel Bleep (a spaceman), Squeek (cowboy) and Scratch (a caveman) battled intergalactic villains such as Doctor Destructo, the master criminal of the universe, The Black Knight, and Captain Patch, a displaced pirate.

Super President: The President and the Pirate (1967)

Super President was a cartoon that aired Saturday mornings on NBC from September 16, 1967 to December 28, 1968. The series was produced by the DePatie-Freleng animation company. If there is a hell for animators DePatie and Freleng are standing there with surprised looks on their faces. These dudes were to animation what the Westboro Baptist Church is to Christianity (who will also one day be standing in Hell with surprised looks on their faces.) Animation Hell is a lot nicer than than regular Hell--animation Hell is just a place bad animators go when they die to watch bad cartoons for all eternity.

Spy Shadow in Bandit Gambit. Richard Vance who works for interspy has mastered the secret art of concentration and ejects the powers of hi inner self to produce his shadow called SPY SHADOW. Spy Shadow cannot materialize where there is no light, as without no light there can be no shadow. Spy Shadow is invincible in light, bullets pass right through him and has great strength. He is under control of his master Richard Vance to fight criminals and protect mankind.

Here comes Tobar was a very short lived Sci-Fi television program. I don't know very much about this program that ran in 1957. It is about a crime fighting robot named Tobor and it is controlled telepathically by a little boy.

A series of old Chiquita Banana commercials. Because of today's PC thought police some of these commercials would probably be banned from TV.

Iwerks was considered by many to be Walt Disney's oldest friend, and spent most of his career with Disney and that explains a lot.
Just look at the guy--he was already being portrayed by Johnny Depp in 1923!

My good friend John Teehan commented on my announcing that Frankenstein’s Daughter would be up at CastleFreak with: "Now you have to follow this up with 1966's JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER and then BILLY THE KID MEETS DRACULA”

So blame him for the next two stinkers, I forgot that Frankenstein’s Daughter was such a crappy actress. And who were the historical morons that thought the psychopathic murderers Billy the Kid and Jesse James would make for good Hollywood, pulp novel and comic book heroes? I guess in 20 years Jeffery Dahmer will be fighting Michael Myers and Jason.

Why was 1966 the year for pant-load cowboys fighting terrible actors and who the hell was Frankenstein's daughter's mother?

God, these movies suck. You will love them! Well, maybe not the Jesse James one. I love that the Frankenstein family moves from Germany to the US because we have better lightening.I know I will go to Psychotronic Hell for what I am about to say, but man, John Carradine blows.

For all you fans of evil people having daughters; Dracula, Jesse James, Zoro (if you are a Bighollywood Libertarian and think a guy that champions equality and is a servant of the people makes him a left wing commie nut. Yeah, I read that there) the Mummy, Freddy Krueger (yup, he had a daughter named Kathryn) or Dick Cheney you will love this thing. It features a girl wit teeth that could eat apples through a picket fence. It is written by the script writer of the B classic Missile to the Moon H.E. Barrie. He apparently wrote both films while taking a coffee break on the set of She Demons. Frankenstein's daughter is the cure for what ails you at 3 AM on a Saturday night. The best.
